Try the client journey before committing to the build

A technology review became more concrete when the practice could enter demonstration environments and discuss how client and matter work would fit together.

Review and demonstrations delivered

Working demonstration environments and workshops informed a circulated technology review and subsequent implementation planning.

Discovery, demonstrations and planning are covered here. Final implementation sign-off is unverified.

Give the review something people can try

The engagement examined business processes and the interaction between practice, document and client-management systems. NewLaw stood up demonstration environments and issued access so the discussion could move beyond a product list.

Workshops and the technology review gave the practice a way to consider the proposed setup. The review was circulated and revised as the work developed.

Turn the review into a direction

The review developed into implementation planning, with practice and document management considered together. The planned direction could then be used to organise the next stages of the work.

The practical lesson

Let people try the relevant part of the journey before they commit to the build. Record which decisions the demonstration settled and which remain open.
