Look beyond the number of matters
Two people can hold similar matter counts and face very different weeks. This design would examine the next substantive stage, upcoming commitments and work waiting on someone else. Estimates would remain staff judgements rather than being presented as precise capacity predictions. The view would support a conversation about priorities and practical constraints.
Make allocation a reviewed decision
Team leaders would review the proposed allocation with the people doing the work, then record ownership of the next steps. Blocked tasks would retain their dependencies rather than disappearing from view. Any reporting feed would use agreed fields and tested updates, with access limited to the information needed for the team review.
