Compare against the right version
The design would begin with a nominated reference copy and the incoming draft. A comparison would show the wording changes, while the originals remained available. The reviewer would distinguish drafting corrections from commercial or legal points requiring a decision, so a long redline did not become a substitute for a considered response.
Give the open points somewhere to go
Material points would move into a short decision log with a position, an owner and the instruction still required. The next draft would be checked against those decisions before release. Document storage, comparison and the decision log could be operated separately, with a tested transfer process where a direct connection was unavailable.
